NGO mission and description of the organization's work

Hong Kong's 3 landfills will be full by 2020 and yet every day we throw away 3,600 tonnes of food. At the same time, 1 in 5 people is living in poverty struggling to meet their basic food needs. This includes 1 in 3 seniors and 1 in 5 children.

Feeding Hong Kong was established to readdress this balance — to reduce the amount of quality food that is being sent to our city's landfills and fight hunger in Hong Kong. We do this by providing a B2B logistics service, which links companies with surplus food to charities feeding those in need.

Impact of skills-based volunteer support on NGO and mission

Volunteer support is critical to our daily operations and over 150 volunteers help us each week to reduce food waste and feed frontline charities.
