Program Coordinator (Volunteer Relations)

Job purpose: The Program Coordinator (Volunteer Relations) oversees recruitment, recognition and retention of volunteers and volunteer leaders and executes community service programs that support our NGO partners and provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for the public

Place of work:
HandsOn Hong Kong office, Cheung Sha Wan, Kowloon
Program work throughout Hong Kong (occcasional program work in China e.g. Shenzhen/ Guangzhou mainly)
Full-time position

Main duties:

  • Oversee recruitment, management, training and recognition of volunteers and volunteer leaders; maintain strong relationships and engagement with volunteers and volunteer leaders
  • Support volunteers and volunteer leaders with training and use of the HOHK volunteer action platform
  • Research, identify and build new partnerships with organizations to expand volunteer network
  • Liaise closely with the Head of Communications regarding volunteer recruitment needs and program spotlight in a timely manner
  • Regularly attend and assess volunteer programs for continual improvement
  • Support the management and coordination of HOHK’s monthly calendar of volunteer programs (100+ per month) with NGO partners
  • Execute grant-funded community programs with impact, including planning, relationship management, volunteer recruitment, monitoring and reporting
  • Provide ongoing updates to entire HOHK team on new volunteer programs
  • Oversee annual volunteer survey and continual feedback throughout the year
  • Mentor and supervise freelance staff and interns as needed
  • Assist and support HOHK programs, reporting and fundraising, such as Serve-a-thon, Hike for Hong Kong, Drink for Good and the annual report
  • Build relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and development goals of the organization

Skills required:

  • Experience managing programs or volunteers at a non-profit organization
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Desire to motivate and recognize the work of volunteers
  • Passion for community involvement and commitment to HOHK’s mission of service
  • Written and spoken Cantonese and English required
