HandsOn seeks a Program Intern

Job summary:

Our Program Intern will mainly support the team that runs up to 150 volunteer activities each month in support of 100 NGO partners. This team comprises of a Senior Program Officer for NGO Engagement and a Volunteer Coordinator—the team is overseen by a Head of Communications.

Internship period:

Beginning in June until the end of August 2019 – 2-3 days per week. Internship period and work arrangement flexible and open to discussion.  

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Conduct program / Hong Kong issue overlay to analyse the current breadth of NGO partners we are working with and how well we are addressing the broad needs of the local community;

  • Attend a range of our calendar programs and make observations and notes on activity format, volunteer experience and other ways the activity could be enriched;

  • Suggest ideas for potential new volunteer programs;

  • Conduct qualitative interviews with select NGO partners and volunteer leaders to obtain feedback, and implement analysis study on the results of NGO survey to ultimately provide your recommendations;

  • Explore and attend meetings with new NGO partners based on needs assessment;

  • Develop and maintain HOHK database of NGO, volunteer and marketing contacts;

  • Develop and maintain the list of grants HOHK could possibly apply for;

  • Assist with the research and drafting of any upcoming grants for HOHK to apply for;

  • Presentation of findings and recommendations upon conclusion of internship.

Job requirements:

All members of the HOHK team need to be passionate about community involvement and fully committed to our mission. You must be organized, dependable and able to manage and prioritize a variety of tasks with minimal supervision. Enthusiasm and a “can-do spirit” are essential for this internship.
Specific skills required include:

  • Be able to work independently;

  • Be proficient in computer application (including Microsoft Office, English and Chinese word processing if possible);

  • Have good command of written and spoken English and Cantonese.
