HandsOn Hong Kong partners with all types of companies to collectively serve the community. Over the years, we’re proud to have partnered with more than 200 companies and their passionate volunteers. Together we have built a range of meaningful service programs for their employees, clients and our frontline charity partners. Here are a few examples of what we do together.

ENVISIONE+ - Beautifying a rooftop green space for members of the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong
When you have been affected by a mental illness, having a tranquil, green space to reflect and support your healing is hugely beneficial. Volunteers from ENVISIONE+ took this to heart when they got #HandsOn to help beautify a rooftop green space for members of the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong (香港心理衞生會 觀塘精神健康綜合社區中心 專頁). The time they spent painting murals, preparing soil, removing weeds and decorating stones with vibrant colours, added so much to this special space that connects people to nature. Some members supported by the charity rolled up their sleeves as volunteers too, helping out side-by-side for the good of their community. Huge thanks to everyone who made this such a joyful day!

They brought plenty of heart, personality and sporting talent to a morning of rugby with children from the special school, Hong Kong Christian Service Pui Oi School. It was truly hard to tell who had the most fun! #GiveBack #Volunteer #HandsOn #HandsOnHK

Arnhold - Empowering Hong Kong students to embrace marine conservation
Marine environment is an essential part of our ecosystems and we all have the responsibility to protect it. Arnhold volunteers held a marine education workshop with primary students from Tun Yu school and taught them about environmental conservation through a very #HandsOn program. Both the students and volunteers were very active and had the chance to observe corals on a boat while also learning about the biodiversity of Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park. Beyond thankful for such an energetic team!
Zurich - Empowering Hong Kong children to embrace sustainability and upcycling
Every community and neighborhood in Hong Kong is unique and has its own story to tell Zurich volunteers recently led Hong Kong children in an Environment Ambassador Porject, empowering the group to learn more about the sustainability and history of Kennedy Town. From collecting reusable materials to upcycling them into useful resources and painting potted plants for the local community, the volunteers and children were committed to the project every step of the way! A huge thank you to the Zurich team for showing us what taking care of our home means!

Johnson & Johnson - Guiding Hong Kong families through the #CirclePainting experience
#CirclePainitng is an art-creation experience which inspires its participants to openly express themselves and unleash their inner creativity! The process allows EVERYONE to be a creator of art and can be calming and therapeutic for children and their family members, as well as a wonderful way to bond and spend time together. Johnson & Johnson HK volunteers recently got #HandsOn to guide primary school students and their families through the process of creating their own work of art . Thank you to our partner #JNJ and all the day's volunteers for helping these students fulfil their potential and experience the joy of team-work!

AON - Empowering AON volunteers to ‘Be Kind in the Community’ all over Hong Kong
Our long-time partner Aon knows that a little #kindness can go a long way - especially in these times. And so they launched their global ‘Be Kind in the Community’ challenge. They partnered with #HandsOn to make this a reality in Hong Kong, empowering their team to adopt acts of kindness for the community. After kicking off with a HandsOn learning session arming their team with information on the city's pressing needs, their volunteers joined 8 service programs in just 2 weeks! From prepping meals in community kitchens, to turning coffee grounds into soap, sorting donated items for low-income households and recycling soap for families in the Philippines. Each of these programs contributed to a #CircularEconomy that recycles and re-uses, as well as assisting communities in need Huge thanks to all Aon volunteers for getting #HandsOn in the name of kindness! #BeTheChange #ChangeMakers
Ocean Network Express (East Asia) - Recycling soap to enable hygiene access
7 million bars of soap are dumped in landfill every day, and yet families around the world are desperate for access to the life-saving resource. Our friends at Ocean Network Express (East Asia) Ltd got hands-on to support this critical need by dedicating their morning to sorting and carving 10kg of soap donated by hotels at the Soap Cycling warehouse. Thanks to their change-making efforts, dozens of families in the Philippines will be receiving enough recycled soap to last a year—and 120 people experiencing homelessness in Hong Kong will receive toiletry packs. Our gratitude goes to everyone who took part!

Moody's - Supporting Financial Literacy for youth
HandsOn Hong Kong and Moody's worked together this year to support the non-profit, Hong Kong Unison, and their incredible work supporting equal opportunities for ethnic minority groups. Our team facilitated virtual workshops where Moody's volunteers and young people supported by Unison discussed money management, financial literacy, and why these are such critical skills. By sharing experiences and tips in a safe environment, the students felt secure in asking volunteers all their questions. Thank you to all that took part!
Carter’s - Giving out care packages to families in need
During these unprecedented times, the low-income families in Hong Kong need our help more than ever. Before the pandemic hit, poverty had been an urgent issue in Hong Kong, with 20% of the population in a constant struggle to get a decent meal. 15 of Carter’s volunteers spent time assembling relief packages such as food and hygiene necessities, for those in need and delivered it to their doorsteps. We’d also like to express our gratitude towards the volunteers at Carter’s and our non-profit partner HKSKH Lady MacLehose Centre for making their lives a little better!

LGT Bank - Going green to preserve the city's trails
While many have taken to the city’s hiking trails this past year to enjoy Hong Kong's nature, some seem to have forgotten the importance of leaving no trace of themselves behind. The HandsOn team recently empowered volunteers from LGT Bank to help address this by mobilizing their team to support the fantastic non-profit Clean Up Hong Kong Trails (CUHKT). These hands-on volunteers painstakingly combed through section 3 of the Wilson Trail, picking up all the trash they found on the way, collecting an incredible 12 bin bags full to help preserve the beauty of our trails. Not only were bottles, cans and cigarettes butts found, but even unexpected items such as broken chairs and an alarm clock. Thank you LGT volunteers for setting an example to us all on hiking responsibly!
Alvarez and Marsal - Giving upcycled coffee grounds a second life
Your morning coffee isn't JUST a caffeine hit to get your day started--left-over coffee grounds can be easily given a second life! During our recent HandsOn program with Alvarez & Marsal, their volunteers did just this when they upcycled coffee grounds to help make an impressive 30 soap bars Combining coffee grounds with soap and essential oils is perfect for adding exfoliation, especially for dry skin areas. These beautiful, fragrant soaps were donated to elderly supported by the Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service. Big thanks for all for #BeingTheChange with us!

Fossil - Celebrating International Women's Day through community service
Happy International Women's Day! On a day that's all about celebrating women's achievements, #HandsOn brought together a team of female volunteers from Fossil to support elderly women in Hong Kong Guided by our talented Program Managers, Ivy and Rachel, this group of 30 #ChangeMaking volunteers spent their afternoon making eco-friendly lip balms and hand-wash for 30 women supported by a local elderly centre. What a pleasure and privilege to empower this group of women to spread a little joy, connect with each other and #ChooseToChallenge in recognition of #InternationalWomensDay!
Fossil - Ensuring social connection for the elderly during CNY
As we counted-down to the Year of the Ox, the HandsOn team was working on ways for the community to celebrate together and stay connected at a time of physical distancing. We found a way for our partner Fossil to support this community need through a virtual 'Fai Chun Challenge' and red-packet upcycling workshop. This program connected 12 of their volunteers with 15 local elderly, each in need of company and someone to celebrate the holiday with. Besides making festive decorations, everyone played games together to spread a little joy and be connected to one another—heading into the Lunar New Year as they each mean to continue!

Fossil - Recycling soap for the local community
Used hotel soaps left behind by guests are often thrown out and sent to the landfill. Yet, every day thousands of children across Asia die from diseases that can be largely prevented simply by maintaining good personal hygiene with soap. Volunteers from Fossil spent time sorting and carving slightly used soaps donated by hotels and hospitality groups, so that these can be shipped by Soap Cycling to disadvantaged communities across Asia. In addition to helping communities overseas, Soap Cycling also provides soap packs to homeless and destitute communities here in Hong Kong, which is vital as Hong Kong continues to experience the COVID-19 pandemic.
