CELEBRATING THE POWER AND POTENTIAL OF VOLUNTEERS
Each year, HandsOn Hong Kong celebrates International Volunteer Day—a UN General Assembly mandated day to recgonize the power and potential volunteers have to effect positive change in their communities. As Hong Kong's leading volunteer hub, HandsOn marks the occasion each year by convening a high-level, forward-looking discussion on the role of individuals and companies in meeting social needs.
International Volunteer Day 2019 was focused on Community Engagement Strategies for Long-term Success. This year's event, held on Friday, Decmber 6, ignited some thought-provoking discussion with our founder Shaun Bernier setting the scene for the sessions. Speakers from the business community provided insights on innovative approaches for engaging volunteers, aligning programs to the business, following employees' passions and making engagement accessible and rewarding. Guests came away with concrete, practical steps that their business can take to meet community engagement goals.
This event provided an interactive platform for leaders to examine emerging trends in Hong Kong and exchange ideas on community engagement strategies with a view towards maximizing benefits for all stakeholders.
Thank you to the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel for generously hosting our International Volunteer Day breakfast each year.
