HandsOn seeks a Marketing & Communications Intern.
Job summary:
Our Marketing & Communications Intern will support HandsOn Hong Kong’s communications efforts—with a focus on assisting with preparations for our community service week, Serve-a-thon (May 13th to 23rd 2023). They will report to the Communications Director.
Internship period:
April to end of May 2023 – 2-3 days per week preferred. Internship period and work arrangement flexible and open to discussion.
In times of crisis—and times of calm—Hong Kong’s charities are a lifeline for the city’s most vulnerable. Even before the global pandemic, 1.5 million Hongkongers were living below the poverty line. As a local charity, HandsOn Hong Kong mobilizes thousands of volunteers each year to support the city’s non-profits and the tens of thousands of people they serve. Each month, we run up to 200 volunteer activities on our calendar as a free service—as part of our mission to empower everyone in Hong Kong to volunteer.
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Use your design skills to assist with the updating of marketing collaterals for Serve-a-thon and other HandsOn initiatives—including banners, e-flyers and presentations; (Canva or other application as preferred)
- Support the HandsOn team as needed both in preparation for—and on-site at—Serve-a-thon and other volunteer programs;
- Drafting content for HandsOn social media posts across Facebook and Instagram, in keeping with our established tone and voice;
- Help to maintain the HandsOn database of volunteers, non-profits, media, school and corporate contacts.
Specific skills required include:
- Experience using Illustrator design software and/or Canva is essential;
- Have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese—translation skills preferred but not essential.
- The ability to work independently, with a can-do spirit!
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including PowerPoint.
