Youth Opportunity: Help Out at Outreach to Migrant Domestic Workers

Description: When workers are misinformed, they are vulnerable to being taken advantage of by unethical recruiters or having their employment rights infringed. Help Fair Employment Agency (FEA) get answers to workers & direct them to a fee-free employment option at FEA, by talking to workers and handing out information cards at this 2-hour street outreach activity on Sunday.

Fair Employment Agency (FEA) is a non-profit employment agency placing migrant domestic workers. Fair Employment Agency got started because we saw a better way of hiring domestic helpers. By removing worker placement fees, they have reinvented the domestic helper agency so that it is fair to workers, and fair to employers.

Before service starts on Sunday, Fair Employment Agency (FEA) will provide an orientation that covers:

•	What is Forced Labour, Debt Bondage and why are unethical Employment Agencies responsible?
•	What is FEA? How do FEA’s services benefit workers?
•	Tips on talking to workers & giving them the information
•	Frequently asked questions from workers at our outreach events.

Volunteers will be given an Outreach Script to guide your conversation with workers on the day. Volunteers will be equipped with a FEA tote bag and sign that will clearly identify yourself as a representative of FEA. Volunteers will hand out:

•	A Get Answers card with basic tips and information on employment topics for workers
•	A calling card with contact info on FEA

Volunteers will be paired with staff or experienced volunteers on the day. The program will be in an area where many domestic workers congregate on Sundays.

Remarks: All volunteers who attend this activity must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong. If you wish to have a friend or family member join you on this activity, they must first register with HandsOn and sign up for the activity.
