Help Out with Distributing and Collecting Food with FeedingHK Driver
Description: Every day, 3,400 tonnes of food waste are sent to landfills in Hong Kong, while one in five people live in poverty and struggle to afford nutritious meals. Feeding Hong Kong bridges this gap by linking food companies with charities that redistribute surplus food. Every Monday, Feeding Hong Kong will send out a car to distribute the fresh bread to their NGO partners, and collect surplus fresh bread and other quality food from stores on the route. The collected food is feeding people in need including shelters for the homeless, migrant workers, refugee support centres, children's homes and other NGOs.
Volunteers will work in teams of two to support Feeding Hong Kong’s Monday Distributing Route with the Driver.
Remarks: All volunteers will receive briefing at Feeding Hong Kong’s office, and set out with the Driver. Physical fitness is required for lifting and carrying food times. All volunteers who attend this activity must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong.
We are looking for volunteer leaders for FeedingHK's Warehouse session, if you live nearby or are willing to volunteer regularly on weekdays (once/ twice a month, you will be rotating shifts with other leaders in the team) and help out at the Warehouse Sessions, please email us via hohk@handsonhongkong.org with title: Applying VL of FeedingHK Warehouse
