Serve-a-thon: Outreach to domestic workers and distribute the giveaway packets
Description: HELP for Domestic Workers (HELP) is a non-profit organization to empower domestic workers through advice, assistance, education and support and to help them gain access to justice and receive fair and equal treatment.
In this service, volunteers will help promote HELP's upcoming webinars on the employment rights of domestic workers in Hong Kong and help pack and giveaway information leaflets and hygienic products to Domestic Workers in Central.
Volunteers' roles:
• On Sept 19th (Saturday), volunteers will pack and organize the giveaways in the HELP office at Ground Floor, St John’s Cathedral, 4-8 Garden Road, Central, Hong Kong
• On Sept 20th (Sunday), volunteers will gather at the HELP office (address above) then distribute the giveaway packets (information leaflets and hygienic products) in the following areas in Central where Domestic Workers usually stay during days off:
- St. John’s Cathedral grounds
- Statue Square and surrounding areas
- Worldwide House and surrounding areas
- Central piers and Tamar park
Remarks:
The minimum age requirement for volunteers is 13 but children age 13 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult. After the adults sign up for this activity, please send email to hohk@handsonhongkong.org to let us know the child's name and age, and HandsOn volunteer account details (if any) to confirm the availability of volunteer spots.
All volunteers who attend this activity must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong. If you wish to have a friend or family member join you on this activity, they must first register with HandsOn and sign up for the activity.
