Collect Bread for Redistribution - Infinitus Plaza, Sheung Wan (Youth welcome)

Description: Every day, 3,600 tonnes of food waste are sent to landfills in Hong Kong, while one in five people live in poverty and struggle to afford nutritious meals. Frontline charities are seeing a significant increase in the number of people turning to NGOs for food assistance due to the COVID-crisis. Feeding Hong Kong's Bread Runs mobilize volunteers to collect surplus fresh bread and other quality food from stores near closing time for bringing to collection points.

These bread donations are redistributed the same night or first thing the following morning to local charities feeding people in need including shelters for the homeless, migrant workers, refugee support centres, children's homes and other non-profits supporting the vulnerable.

Volunteers will work in teams of two to support Feeding Hong Kong’s Bread Run and collect food items from a store in Infinitus Plaza, Sheung Wan. These items will be delivered immediately to their Yau Tong warehouse.

Service details and volunteer safety: All volunteers will receive a service reminder for this activity which must be followed exactly to ensure timely bread collection and handling guidelines are followed.
