Virtual opportunity: Prepare & deliver New Year Care Packages for the elderly
Description: As Hong Kong experiences the fourth wave of the COVID-19 crisis, the most vulnerable members of our community continue to suffer the most. With most of Hong Kong’s elderly self-isolating, afraid and unable to leave their homes, help from the city’s volunteers is desperately needed to support their immediate needs and well-being. Assistance from volunteers also reduces the burden on stretched and under-resourced elderly centres acting as a virtual lifeline for the people they support.
Given the rising cost of food prices and daily necessary items, the elderly rely heavily on government subsidies for their basic necessities. Part of the burden on these individuals can be eased by assembling and dropping off New Year Care Packages at the elderly centre. These packs go a long way in supporting these individuals’ daily needs and letting them know the community cares for them.
On Feb 17th, please donate and bring the following items to the centre:
Volunteers will need to deliver your items directly to People Service Centre in Fu Cheong Estate (near Nam Cheong station) on your signed up day (exact delivery time and address to be provided via email).

- 4-8 fresh fruits that are not easily spoiled or bruised, like oranges & apples
- 1 pack of 2kg of rice
- 2-8 packs of noodles, e.g. rice noodles, rice vermicelli, Shanghai noodles, etc
- New Year greeting/care card (optional)
- Fai Chun (optional)
