Youth Empowered Opportunity: Help to clean a Shek O beach
"Jockey Club Community Sustainability Fund - Youth Empowered Project 賽馬會社區持續抗逆基金 – 見「義」勇為青年義工計劃" Funded by: 捐助機構: Description: Did you know that every day in Hong Kong, 5.3 million plastic bottles are discarded? Our 'Youth Empowered' team has partnered with Plastic Free Seas to address this and empower other young people to view and use plastics differently. Our student leaders are hosting a beach cleanup at Shek O lovers bridge and they are inviting other environmentally-conscious volunteers (age 13 to 17) to join them. During this cleanup, you will meet our team of volunteer leaders and learn how to safely use any equipment before getting started on cleaning the beach. There will be social distancing measures in place, so all volunteers will be split into groups of 4 and spread out across the beach. Directions: Meet our youth ambassadors at the Chai Wan MTR station at 9:30am. From there we will take a bus to the beach together. Notes: Volunteers are asked to refrain from bringing single-use items to the beach, such as disposable plastic bottles, rain coats, etc. Gloves and bags will be provided. Volunteers must wear masks, closed-toe shoes, bring a full reusable water bottle, sun protection and bug spray. Please make sure to bring hand sanitiser, and keep your mask on at all times.
