CARE DELIVERED: Deliver Care Packages to people recover from mental illness

Description: Despite the sense of cautious optimism in the air, many of Hong Kong's citizens continue to suffer from the devastating impact of this past year, and ongoing needs within the community. Even before COVID 1 in 5 of our citizens was living in poverty, surviving on less than HK$4,000 each month.

Support from the larger Hong Kong community is needed to help our most vulnerable groups, and the charities that support them. Part of the burden on these individuals and families, can be eased through the delivery of food packages brought directly to their doorsteps by caring volunteers. With the support of Operation Santa Claus, CARE DELIVERED is a Care Package distribution project jointly run by HandsOn Hong Kong and Feeding Hong Kong, that provides a full year of food assistance to communities in need.

Volunteers are needed to help assemble and deliver these Care Packages to people who recover from mental illness along the MTR lines-helping to provide food assistance that receipients know can be counted on for that month. These packages are being allocated to households identified as being in need of long-term food assistance and support.  ​ 

• Volunteers will receive a short briefing upon arriving at the community centre.
• Volunteers will help to sort and assemble Care Package items including essential food and hygiene items and other necessities.
• Volunteers will form a team of two to deliver care packages to the MTR stations for collections.
• Volunteers are suggested to bringing a shopping trolley to carry the packages. 
• Volunteers are expected to be responsible for the MTR transportation fees. 

• 每位義工抵達中心之時，中心工作人員將會提供指引及相關保護物品（口罩、手套及酒精搓手液）。
• 義工將兩人一組送防疫物資至地鐵站，進行交收。
• 此活動需搬運重物。如有折疊購物車，建議義工帶至服務地點，方便搬運。
• 義工需要負責地鐵交通費用。
