Information session for families: Social support program for elderly
Description: After an unprecedented past year, the mental health of Hong Kong’s elderly community is hugely at risk. More than 152,000 people over 65 years are living alone in the city and were not getting enough social contact even before COVID-19. They faced more than a year of crisis in isolation, with over 50% of the elderly reporting feeling lonely.
HandsOn believes that the city's families and children can play a vital role in supporting the well-being of these vulnerable elderly—by bringing connection, joy, and friendship back into their lives.
With the support of the Hong Kong Club Foundation, the HandsOn team has developed GENERATION CONNECT, a program that brings the generations together for the benefit of everyone involved.
This social-connection program empowers Hong Kong families to support and connect with a local elderly person for a five-month period. Sign up to be paired with an elderly person living in the Sau Mau Ping or Tin Shui Wai area (for Cantonese-speaking families).
For anyone interested in learning more about GENERATION CONNECT, HandsOn invites you to join a Zoom Information Session Thursday, July 7th, at 6 pm. Sign up and join this 45-minute session where HandsOn will outline program details, family participation, and answer your questions.
描述：疫情肆虐一年多，港人身心疲憊，長者尤甚。逾152,000位年滿65歲長者長期獨自生活，缺乏社交。據了解，有近過半長者均表示過去一年感到特別孤單。
我們相信家庭和他們的小孩可以做得更多，支持有需要長者，並將他們的活力和快樂散播開去，讓長者也感受到愛的溫度。
牽手．香港在得到 Hong Kong Club Foundation 幫助之下，成功為本地家庭和長者策劃一項名為跨代同行 的心理健康支援服務。我們希望透過此項長達半年的服務能夠牽起雙方之手，鼓勵家庭與長者多交流、多關心。現在報名參加活動，到訪長者位於秀茂坪或天水圍的家吧（供粵語家庭參與！）
如欲了解更多有關跨代同行服務，我們邀請你參加將於7月7日下午6時舉行的 Zoom 資訊講座。講座長度為45分鐘，屆時將會向各位簡介服務內容和家庭參與詳情等，當然我們亦很樂意解答你的任何問題。
