Health & Safety Guidelines

HandsOn Hong Kong is committed to serving community needs while doing all we can to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our volunteers, non-profit partners, and the groups they serve. We undertake a number of measures to uphold the health and safety of participants to our programs, and we encourage volunteers to take a proactive role in looking after their own personal welfare, setting a positive example for others. By working together, we can create a safe and fulfilling volunteer experience for everyone involved.

Insurance protection for volunteers

The HandsOn team prioritises the well-being and safety of our volunteers who generously contribute their time and passion to join programs through our year-round calendar. As part of this commitment, we undertake a Personal Accident Insurance Policy to safeguard them while they participate in the 200+ programs we empower volunteers to join each month. This provides protection in the event of any unforeseen incidents or accidents that may occur while carrying out their responsibilities.

Our First Aid certified team

All members of the HandsOn programming team are First Aid certified, having completed the Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Certificate Course in First Aid and Adult CPR. This equips them with the basic knowledge and skills to respond in the event of medical emergencies at programs they are running or attending.

Risk Assessment and Safety Guidelines

To ensure a safe volunteering experience, the HandsOn team assesses potential risks and implements appropriate safety measures to minimize them. We also provide volunteers with clear and concise safety briefings, to ensure they are aware of potential hazards and how to mitigate them. As part of our safety approach, we have a digital Volunteer Code of Conduct which every volunteer signs before serving the first time. This confirms their commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for everyone taking part in each service activity.

The HandsOn team continuously strives to improve our health and safety practices. We welcome feedback or suggestions to further enhance our efforts, and thank you for your support.
