Online training session: Phone call support for the elderly (COVID-19 relief)

Description: After an unprecedented past year, the emotional well-being of Hong Kong’s elderly community continues to be at risk. Some of the older people in the city's report being lonely, especially those lacking regular contact with their families. 

Having calls with these elderly can help reduce loneliness and provide social connection. Therefore, we're inviting experienced and caring volunteers to have calls with one of these elderly individuals just once a week, starting in October. 

Volunteer roles: Each volunteer joining this support-program must have attended our training session before and be available to support one elderly individual within the same program for four weeks, by calling once a week over a four-week period. 

They will provide social connection and emotional support and help the staff to determine their well-being and immediate needs. 

Each volunteer joining this support program must be available once a week over a four-week period starting from Oct 1st.  Please note that we may extend this program to support elderly individuals for a longer period. 

Online training session: This will be conducted through Zoom. The meeting link will be sent to volunteers by email on or before Sept 16. Attending this training session is a prerequisite for joining this service program. All volunteers who attend this activity must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong.
