Family Opportunity: Help Out with Beach Cleaning in Clearwater Bay

Description: Plastic Free Seas is hosting a beach cleanup at the Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club Hong Kong.  The beach is a rocky beach so volunteers should feel comfortable to walk on small to medium size rocks. (not dangerous).There are toilets and drinking water refills nearby.

Volunteers please note the following:
- Wear a mask at all times. It is not necessary to wear a mask during the cleanup if you don't want to
- Bring a full reusable water bottle (1L-2L) 
- Wear closed-toe sturdy shoes (such as running shoes, NO flip flops)
- Bring suntan lotion and bug spray
- Wear light comfortable clothing, a hat is advisable
- If there is a chance of rain you may wish to bring a rain jacket (no disposables please)
- Gloves and bags will be provided.

Remarks: This activity welcomes families to sign up — children aged 10 to 14 have to be accompanied by an adult. Given the current COVID-19 situation, volunteers should use their own judgement for whether this is appropriate for their children. Experienced staff will be on hand to make this an interesting and educational experience for the family. 

Volunteers should be at least 15 years of age to attend this activity without a parent or guardian. Volunteers who want to bring their children over the age of 10, please create a children's account and sign them up along with your registration or send us an email to HOHK@handsonhongkong.org to register.  

Volunteers are expected to refrain from bringing single-use items to the beach, such as disposable plastic water bottles, rain coats, etc. We will meet at the Hang Hau MTR station outside exit B1 at 10am sharp and take bus to the Golf Course & Club where the beach is located. Volunteers are asked to share the expense of the bus, ranging from HKD 20-30 per person based on the number of volunteers. Unfortunately, latecomers will have to meet us at the Club. Please hydrate well that morning and eat a good lunch.

Schedule:
10.00 - Meet at Hang Hau station
10.30-12.30 - Safety and instruction brief, cleanup and debrief
12.40 - Bus to Hang Hau station


This activity could be cancelled due to the low sign-up rate. The cancellation would be sent 5 days before the event if any.
